Coleman Mediation Services was founded in 2025 by J. Michael Coleman to provide attorneys and their clients with trusted, and balanced guidance through complex legal disputes. With nearly fourty years of litigation experience—including two decades as a Board Certified Civil and Business Litigator—Michael brings a deep understanding of how cases are viewed in court and how they can be resolved outside of it.

Founder | Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Court Mediator
J. Michael Coleman brings nearly four decades of experience as a respected litigator, mediator, and community leader to his role as founder of Coleman Mediation Services. A Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Court Mediator and Qualified Arbitrator, Michael has participated in hundreds of civil mediations throughout his distinguished legal career. His deep expertise spans complex commercial litigation, construction disputes, probate and trust litigation, banking and financial services cases, land use conflicts, and more.
Michael began practicing law in 1986 and focused his practice on business litigation, construction litigation, litigation probate and trust litigation. He has since built a reputation for integrity, precision, and results-driven advocacy. He is a founding shareholder of the Naples-based law firm Coleman, Taylor, Klaus, Doupé, Diaz & Torrez, P.A., where he continues to serve as a senior litigator. Michael was a Board Certified Business Litigation Lawyer (August 1996 through July 2021) and a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer (June 1994 through May 2009). Prior to founding the firm in 2005, he was a shareholder in several prominent Florida law firms, handling high-stakes litigation across diverse practice areas.
Recognized consistently by peers and industry publications, Michael is an "AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rated” by Martindale-Hubbell® attorney and has been named a “Legal Elite” by Florida Trend magazine, a “Florida Super Lawyer” and Best Lawyers-South Florida. In 2023, he received the prestigious Donald Van Koughnet Professionalism Award from the Collier County Bar Association.
Michael represented clients in litigation: in the Circuit Courts in Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Sarasota and Hendry Counties. He is a member of the Trial Lawyer and Construction Law sections of the Florida Bar and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, the Bankruptcy Court in the Middle District of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the U.S. Tax Court.
A longtime contributor to the legal profession and civic life, Michael served as President of the Collier County Bar Association, Chairman of the Naples Area Chamber of Commerce, and a board member of numerous educational and economic development organizations throughout Southwest Florida. Some of these include the Naples Area Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Collier, Economic Development Council, Curriculum Review Committee Collier County Public Schools, Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida, Inc., Sunrise Children’s Foundation, Inc., Sunrise Academy Private School, Inc. and the Florida State University College of Law, Board of Visitors.
Michael holds a J.D. with honors from Florida State University College of Law, where he earned numerous accolades including first place in the Robert Orseck Memorial Moot Court Competition, the William L. VanDercreek Service Award, the Bryant Miller & Olive Award for State Constitutional Law; and the Alumni Medal of Merit; Phi Alpha Delta - Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award.
With a career rooted in collaboration and resolution, Michael established Coleman Mediation Services to offer clients a thoughtful, balanced, and highly experienced approach to dispute resolution.
